Appraisals are prepared for various purposes including:
– Insurance: Coverage and Damage Claims
– Equitable Distribution: Dissolution of Marriage or Partnerships
– Estate Purposes: Probate, Estate Tax, Equitable Distribution
– Donation – Charitable contribution of Personal Property to a Qualified Organization
– Guardianships
– Liquidation for Bankruptcy
– Consultation either written or verbal
Appraisals for these purposes are provided in a written report to ISA Standards and Ethics and to USPAP Standards provided by The Appraisal Foundation. In certain circumstances for Consultation, a verbal opinion of value can be provided with suggested possible venues for sale and is not considered an appraisal report.
The Appraisal Process:
Fees are charged on an hourly basis for the following tasks:

On-site inspection includes the appraisers time to photograph, measure, examine and evaluate all property that will be listed in the report.
Research is performed to properly identify the marks, labels, dates and to determine or estimate values by researching Internet sites, publications, consult experts or any other common observations that will provide accurate values for the purpose intended in the report.
Report Preparation includes the formatting of the report, typing, assembly of research and photographs and printing of 2 copies of the final report for the intended purpose.
Qualified Appraisals:
Dorothy I Long of DIL Appraisals is considered a Qualified Appraiser according to IRS Code, Section 170(f)(11)9E)(ii) and is a Certified Member of the International Society of Appraisers, USPAP current 2018-2019 and has met education and experience requirements which can be viewed in her Professional Profile.
